Wisk is collaborating with Boeing to develop the first of its kind of eVTOL aircraft performance data model, the Base of Aircraft DAta (BADA) standard maintained by EUROCONTROL. BADA is the most comprehensive aircraft performance model used by the aviation industry worldwide as the de facto standard for trajectory prediction and simulation for the Air Traffic Management (ATM) world.
A BADA model for the Wisk Gen6 eVTOL (electrical Vertical Take Off and Landing) aircraft, jointly developed by BR&T-E (Boeing Research & Technology – Europe) and Wisk, is a key enabler for the creation and refinement of the appropriate procedures and airspace integration analyses required to accommodate this platform into the Terminal Airspace. It has been recently used in collaboration with an ANSP to improve understanding of the unique issues and specifics of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations, ensuring that the Wisk Gen 6 aircraft will integrate seamlessly into the Airspace. Airspace integration is essential to ensure Gen 6 can execute all designed procedures without impacting other traffic in busy airspace.
This presentation describes the collaboration between Boeing BR&T-Europe and Wisk to develop such a model, how it was used and what benefits it will bring in the future.
