Speaker Bio

As Director of Programs at CANSO Michelle is responsible for the management and oversight of CANSO’s global safety, operations and strategy programs and ensuring the work of CANSO’s global workgroups are in line with the organization’s strategic direction.

Michelle leads the development of policy and advocacy on key issues affecting the global ATM industry and oversees CANSO’s engagement with ICAO where the organization has official observer status. She currently leads CANSO’s involvement in the Complete Air Traffic System (CATS) future sky vision, which is producing a plan for advancing the changes necessary to meet the diverse service needs of the next era of aviation.

Prior to joining CANSO Michelle worked for NAV CANADA for over 20 years where she worked closely with operational teams on major projects including airspace studies, level of service reviews, technology investment and deployment initiatives and the company’s programs to improve flight efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from aviation activity. She managed legislative and regulatory issues, media, community relations and advocacy efforts on behalf of the company.
