Director of the Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation Safety

Chris Carter is the Director of the Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation Safety (since July 2025). He brings over two decades of experience from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he retired as Director for the Asia Pacific Region, leading strategic initiatives to enhance aviation safety and international collaboration.

Earlier in his FAA career, Chris served as Deputy Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, developing policies that transformed aircraft certification processes. An aeronautical engineer by training, he combines technical expertise with strong diplomatic and teamwork skills, having successfully negotiated key international agreements and built broad support for U.S. aviation positions worldwide.
