Mr LI had accumulated more than 40 years’ experience in Air Traffic Management, airspace management, flight procedure design, aircraft accident investigation as well as air traffic engineering project management.

Mr LI joined the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD) in 1984 as a Student Air Traffic Control Officer. He progressively accumulated Air Traffic Control (ATC) experience in various ATC control positions including Aerodrome Control, Approach Radar Control, and Area Radar Control. He subsequently joined the CAD Project Team for the New Airport at Chek Lap Kok and accumulated precious experience in various areas concerning aviation management, and managed ATC projects during the preparation and transition of the new ATC facilities at the New Airport in 1998. In addition to his ATC experience, Mr LI is a qualified Performance Based Navigation (PBN) flight procedure design expert. He also completed an Aircraft Accident Investigation course in Cranfield University, UK in 2011.

My Li was promoted to the rank of Chief Air Traffic Control Officer in 2008. Meanwhile, he was actively involved in Air Traffic Management (ATM) planning and implementation activities in the Asia and Pacific regions. He was the Chairperson of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Southeast Asia Air Traffic Management Coordination Group (SEACG) from 2010-2014. He retired from CAD 2019 at the rank of Assistant Director-General of Civil Aviation leading the Air Traffic Management Division of CAD. He subsequently rejoined CAD as Air Traffic Control Consultant until June 2024. He then joined the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy in December 2024 as Director, Air Traffic Management until the present day.
